We have new version of emulator on MySpeccy.com made by Troels Noergaard (www.zzspectrum.org). Big thanks Troels. It emulates AY-sound, has 128K version and many other great features. Now it's time to test new emulator. Play and enjoy!
Oh. And we made new defence system from hackers. =)

Please, test again our emulator on your machines. We corrected speed.

Noticed Starquake is running too fast on the new emulator too... Is there any way we can have QAOP for the 48k games, and ZZ Spectrum for the 128k games?
The new emulator seems to be going too fast on some games. Just played Sir Lancelot and noticed the speed has been increased slightly so it doesnt seem 100%
First of all, congrats 2 Master of Species and all who R making possible this great idea.
I came here 2day following an invitation of a very good friend, and all I have 2 say is...nice xperience, folks! So....i'm agree with DeusX over the new emulator. With all respects 2 his creator and owner, mayb doesn't b the better choice 2 implement here cause, efectiviewonder ( <--like we say the oldies in Spain lol ), the speed is more high than the original Spec and also ( like the user STACK sayed b4 ) got little in-game slowdowns.
I tested a few games ( as u can see in my profile, not very much but i hope get more in the future ) and xperienced this troubles.
Sure Masters of Species aprecciate that the whole people here prefeer the most possible aproximation of the original Spectrum and it's very frustrating with the actual emu.
Personally, if I got 2 sacrifice the 128k's games in benefit of the playability, here´s my vote 2 make it possible.
If not, we R loosing the original spirit and meaning of the Spectrum.
It's better play a few games good that play badly hundreds of titles.
Thanx again, friends.
The new emulator seems to work fine on one of my machines (Celeron laptop) but on my home machine (very old P4) everything runs way too fast, making games absolutely unplayable.

Great to know about it. Thanks, soundhog.
As for me, I've used two different machines for the tests (P4-3Ghz and P3-600Mhz), both also with very excessive speed results. I even thought it may have something to do with using a possibly too old version of Java, so I updated to the last version in both machines... but that didn't seem to affect either.
Cheers.
It is odd. Both machines run the same version of Java, Firefox and XP so I really don't understand why it's acting so oddly.
BTW - moans aside, I should thanks to everyone involved for this rather great website... !!

Having tested some games (Scuba Dive, Supertest, WEC Le Mans, Wild West Hero, Bomberman, Arkanoid, Spy Hunter, Manic Miner among others), I must say I'm quite disappointed with the implementation of the new emulator. Amost every game works at a considerable higher speed (let's say 140-160%) that its usual, which makes some games quite weird to play... and others simply unplayable. Other than that, and as Stack points out, the speed suffers from constant variation (slowing down dramatically in some different spots of Wild West Hero or WEC Le Mans for instance; on other games you can expect a speed fluctuation up or down anytime). Finally, couldn't get Arkanoid to work anymore.
I tested the games whether being logged in or out, and in different net connection conditions.
Will keep trying other snapshots, although if this higher-than-correct speed keeps being a constant in all of them I'll more than consider suggesting going back to the Qaop emulator, specially if other users find similar troubles with the new one.
Thanks for tests. Keep good work!
But I must say it's not higher speed. It's normal Speccy speed. QAOP is slowing down all games. Try some software emulators, watch youtube records or find real Speccy and play those games. You will find that ZZ Spectrum is much better emulates gameplay.
Yes, in some games emulator works not good, but it's better to have problems with some games, than slow speed in all games.

Thank you Master. :)
The fact is I have tested the mentioned games with _three_ different emulators (ZXSpin, Spectaculator and the old ZX32) at their standard processor speed, and I still do believe the speed found on ZZ Spectrum is not appropriate. To convince myself about this, and after reading your reply, I loaded Eric and the Floaters (Bomberman), Revenge of Doh and Jumping Jack _on a real Spectrum machine_ (48k, Issue 3b), and I come to the same conclusion. Indeed QAOP worked slightly slower... but again in my opinion ZZ speeds the games up notabily more than required.
Regards.
The problem of QAOP was not only in speed, when we made decision to use ZZ Spectrum.
QAOP also have problems with screen rendering. Especcialy when we tried to make with QAOP-engine 128Kb version of emulator (http://myspeccy.com/ru/content/back-48k-applet-version). So it was deadlock and we could not use anymore QAOP...
ZZ Spectrum is the solution. You should be happy, because soon we will add new 128Kb games. =)

Hi again Master,
Having the chance to get into new 128k games will be a nice feature... but I seem not to be heard regarding the speed differences I've been trying to prove. As I said, I followed your advice about testing the games in several emulators and a real Spectrum, and I can assure QAOP was quite more reliable with internal behaviour of the original software, despite its other bad features.
Besides, I think the fun of trying new games becomes minimal when it brings the elimination of other titles in the myspeccy lists (and therefore the constant loss of points in some personal achievements of ours). Since I signed up I've seen how some titles have been removed from the lists being the first of them Automania (losing my points for that reason), but the way things are going I guess there will be more and more being not compatible with the new emulator (the last ones removed have been Terra Cresta and Arkanoid; Pinball Wizard and probably Impact also to come since they're also showing problems). Honestly, it's _completely_ disappointing to see how hundreds of practicing and on-line gaming with other fellows are thrown to the bin that easily. Can't be more agree with Stack about this matter.
As for me, I've come to the point that I can't feel much more enthusiasm for the competition, so I won't be hesitating in helping to detect any more incompatibilities or strange behaviours in other possible games, even though that means removing yet even more points of my score, which should be much higher right now. My main interest is to keep myspeccy as much well up-to-date as possible about keeping the good essence of Spectrum gaming, and I more than think other users should send their tests and opinions as well about _all_ features of this new emulator.
And please, check and compare speeds of multiple games. I think I must have done it in every possible way as for now, and I keep thinking something is not working well.
Regards.
edit: you can add another one to check: Splat!.
We understand your point and be sure we care about all of your results. It's time for tests.
If emulator will work bad on many computers, we will rollback on QAOP.
WBR,
Master Of Speccies.

I apreciate the concern. Let's see what additional info other users may submit.
Here's two other titles that seem to have stopped working with ZZ: Splat! (Basic error message after loading) and Frank 'N' Stein (lack of keyboard response).
Cheers.
Sadly I have found that the fast scrolling games seem to be suffering for quality in the new emulator with a lot of slowdown episodes. Are others experiencing the same?
What games exactly do you mean?

City Connection is one. But I didn't want to mention it as games that have errors tend to be removed from the website and it always seems to be games that I'm good at playing that disappear!
ZZSpectrum Rulz :D
implementing this emulator was a great move!!! Congratulations!!!
Уррря!)
Oh, forgot to mention congrats on the update!
Now that the new emulator is installed perhaps Kokotoni Wilf will run again. It worked fine when 128 was running before. Please could you put it back on the site?
Would be nice if Automania can be finally put back as well...
